DALLAS, TX, UNITED STATES, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Juego Studios Inc., the US operating entity of Juego Studios and a full-cycle game development and art outsourcing company, today outlined the ways US studios are extending production capacity as teams balance demanding release schedules with leaner in-house cores: full-cycle development, co-development, and outstaffing.

The backdrop is a demanding stretch for the US industry. Layoffs have reached studios of every size, even as Circana forecast in February that US consumer spending could hit a record this year. For studios facing tight schedules and gaps in capacity or specialist skills, external partners are one option for carrying design, art, and engineering from concept through launch and live operations, with the client keeping creative direction.

Studio Headcounts Fall as US Studios Look Beyond Their Own Teams

The 2026 GDC State of the Game Industry survey found that 33% of US respondents were laid off in the past two years, even as Circana forecast in February that 2026 US spending could reach a record $62.8 billion. Outlook Respawn reports staff cuts at Epic Games and EA in March 2026, and Matthew Ball and Epyllion’s State of Video Gaming in 2026 report notes that, more broadly, studios have shifted work to outside contractors as funding tightened.

Layoffs are only part of the picture. Studios also look outside for specialist expertise they do not need full-time, such as technical art, porting, or engine-specific engineering, and for added capacity on live-service titles that depend on constant updates. For Juego Studios Inc., those needs map to three engagement models: full-cycle development, co-development, and outstaffing.

Full-Cycle Delivery and Co-Development

A smaller in-house team leaves less capacity to coordinate separate vendors for design, art, engineering, and QA. Working with one partner on end-to-end game development services can cut the number of hand-offs and keep a single team accountable for scope, schedule, and quality.

Within Juego Studios Inc.’s full-cycle engagements, the partner takes responsibility for delivering a defined title or milestone set to agreed acceptance criteria across PC, console, and mobile builds in engines such as Unity and Unreal, while the client keeps creative direction and approval. Live game services can continue after launch. Porting and LiveOps can also be scoped as separate engagements.

Co-development works differently. The partner’s team integrates with the client’s in-house group and production pipeline, with the client leading production and the partner accountable for agreed deliverables.

Game Art Stays Part of the Pipeline

Many studios keep a small art core and extend it with specialist art capacity. When game art services are delivered inside the same pipeline as engineering, assets arrive in the format, technical budget, and engine the build needs. At Juego Studios Inc., that work covers 2D and 3D assets, animation, and environments alongside engineering.

Flexible Capacity Around Production Milestones

Release calendars do not shrink when teams do, and player caution adds to the risk. In its Future of Video Games report, Circana found that 38% of consumers would buy fewer full-price games at launch if costs rose because of tariffs or other factors. Studios facing both pressures may want capacity they can add for a milestone and release afterward. When scope and acceptance criteria are agreed, milestone-based capacity can also improve budget visibility and widen access to talent beyond a studio’s local hiring market.

Outstaffing is one way to get it. Studios can hire game developers from Juego Studios Inc. as dedicated members of their own team for engineering, design, or technical art for the length of a milestone or project. Under the outstaffing model, roles span Unity, Unreal, and HTML5 development as well as 2D and 3D art and animation, while the client directs the work day to day.

The right model depends on who should own delivery. A single missing role, such as a Unity engineer or a technical artist for one milestone, points to outstaffing, with the client supervising. A defined title or scope that the studio would rather not manage points to full-cycle delivery. A need to add capacity inside the client’s own production pipeline points to co-development.

How US Clients Engage

US clients contract with, and receive invoices from, the US entity, which is structured for standard vendor onboarding and provides a US point of contact.
